Pictures! Knitting Ideas! Hannah Not Complaining About College!

Hi guys! Okay, this was going to be a perky post, and it will be, but let me get some complaining out of the way. Either I'm not hitting the keys hard enough when I type, or several of my keys are messed up. Namely, a, f, 1, space, and sometimes n. So now you'll know that "or" means "for" and that I'm not just typing run-on words whenmytypinglookslikethis. Okay. Complaining time's over.
So, first off,here's some pictures.
These are my first socks ever. Word of advice: They stretch out when machine washed. Which kinda defeats the purpose of superwash. But that's okay. And boy, is my room messy.

This is going to be a
lace scarf. Someday. I probably should have waited until I had less projects on the needles before I started this. But it'll be real pretty when I'm done with it. If I ever get a pattern published in Knitty, I'll have a picture of me wearing this as the picture at the bottom of the page.

This is going to be a
Jaywalker sock. I'm on the heel for the second time, because I had messed up a little the first time, and because I finally learned how to purl correctly and I think it'd look better done properly.

This is my Quant. I still need to block it and sew on the buttons. Which I think I'll do after I take my shower. It's supposed to be cold, so maybe I can wear it tomorrow.

And here are mom's
Bella's mittens. I extended the ribbing to the palm, and made a flap on the right mitten. But the ribbing makes it a little cold.
And Dad's sweater is coming along fine; I have five more inches before I start on the sleeves. It's my TV and travel project. But my needle's acting up. I'm using my Boye interchangeable set, but the plastic seems to be pulling away from the metal I think it's because the sweater's so heavy on it. I think I should put some clear packing tape on it now before it breaks off. But mom says that that would make my knitting sticky, and Dad says that I should just be careful until I get the sweater finished. The thing is, I really don't want it to break, and I probably can't be careful enough for the rest of the sweater. Maybe I'll see if there's a group on Ravelry about these interchangeable needles and see what people think there.
Thursday I started knitting a cowl and I wove in the ends this morning. Pictures to come. Maybe.
I'm also knitting sleeves on that vest I did a while back.
I'm knitting some slippers that were supposed to be for me,but they don't fit my long narrow feet and so I'm going to give them to mom.
I really want to knit a coat. I'm fantasizing about a felted pea coat, but I've yet to see a pattern and I wouldn't want to just wing it on something that big and expensive. I've been looking around on Ravelry for some patters for coats, not necessarily pea coats, but I'm still thinking. I know that I'll knit it out of Fisherman's Wool, because it is soft, and a lot cheaper than other wool, even if it only comes in plain colors. But, a coat's supposed to match everything, so dark gray would be more suitable than bright blue or green or something like that. I also know that I'll knit it big. A coat's supposed to be worn over things, like bulky hoodies, so I'll want it to be big. And, even though I really like the idea of a felted coat, if I knit at a tight gauge, it might look okay. Who knows, maybe, if I knit like a mad woman over the summer (which, I would do all year round, but unfortunately there's something called school. Oops. That doesn't count as complaining) then I might have a nice wool coat, pea or otherwise, to wear next winter when I'm gallivanting around campus.
And speaking of school, i have some non-complaining details about school to share. I made a 100 on the Chemistry test, thanks to a large curve. And I made an 85 on my English paper. And a 98 on my Statistics test, but I wasn't worried about that since that class is the easiest thing since sliced bread. And I think I'm doing okay in Psychology and Human Ecology too. As for History, well, I'm not sure. We'll get our tests back Wednesday.

Another Knitting Update

I dyed my Fisherman's wool yesterday and today. Yesterday I dyed some yelow, and today I dyed some orange. Some tips about dyeing with Kool-Aid:

  • Yellow Kool-Aid won't work. Just use food coloring.
  • 3 packets of orange Kool-Aid opened at the same time smell gross. Like orange medicine. Yuch.
  • If you're dying as much as I did, you should add food coloring too.

I finished my lunchbox a while back, but I don't think I ever posted pictures. Here they are.

I finished Mom's mittens yesterday, but I can't take pictures of them because she wore them to work today.

EU is this weekend! I'm excited. I'm not sure how many people are going, but it'll be a good trip. I'll bring Dad's sweater to knit on the ride there and back. I'll probably get a lot done; it's a 4 hour drive to get there.

I made a hat for my mom.

I finished knitting my Quant today! I still need to block it and sew on the button, because I didn't have enough yarn for the i-cords. Pictures to come.

This will probably be the last time I post for a while, since I start classes Thursday and I have a busy weekend ahead of me.

Knitting Update

I've been doing a lot of knitting here of late. I guess I'm just trying to get my fill before I start college.
I knit the first Bella's Mittens for my mom. I'm going to make a flap on the second one so that she won't have to take off the entire mitten if she needs to grab something.
I'm also making the Edge-of Lace hat for mom to match her scarf. Have I said this before? I feel redundant. Maybe that's just because I've said all this on Ravelry.
I finished the ribbing on Dad's Saranac sweater. I think I'll take that to knit on the way to and from EU.
And when I get finished with it (which won't happen for a while) I'll start knitting Thermal for myself. I'm not quite sure what yarn I'll use. I was thinking maybe I'll use two strands of crochet cotton held together. O maybe I'll use some solid colored sock yarn.
Yesterday I made some progress on my hot pink smock/babydoll top/maternity shirt looking thingy. I think, if I don't do short rows for the center 3 repeates, it won't look like a maternity shirt.
I think I'll dye my Fisherman's Wool tomorrow. I wound it around the coffee table the other day so that I can dye it.
Unreleated to knitting, I got my hair trimmed today. Then I went to Rugged Warehouse and got a shirt. It has penguins on it!
I'm also thinking I'll go see Twilight sometime before Tech starts. Except I don't really want to go see a movie by myself.

Winter Cleaning

I cleaned out the top shelf of my bookshelf today! Yay! The other two shelves are nowhere near as messy, so it'll be a lot easier cleaning those. And then I have the rest of my ridiculusly messy room to clean. It'll take a while.
I'm knitting Bella's Mittens for my mom. They're really pretty. I almost want to keep them for myself. I think I might make some armwarmers or myself using that cable pattern, which looks like pliers.
I bought some Fisherman's Wool the other day when it was on sale. I also bought some kool-aid to dye it. Hopefully, I'll be able to dye some of it soon.
I start Tech in a few days. Bleh. At least I don't have to go back to highschool tomorrow. This winter break seems too long to be a short break, but too short to be like summer break.

A bunch of random paragraphs that don't really have anything to do with each other

I'm an alumnus! I have been since Thursday, but I didn't have anything else important to say, so I didn't post anything until now. I brought the sleeve of Mrs. Darcy to work on after the Econ exam, and Brittany and April seemed to be fascinated by it.
I finally finished the second Cinderella sock, but I don't have any pictures yet. They're a bit big, but my feet are pretty warm, so i guess it doesn't matter.
3 days until Christmas! It's supposed to be around 50 degrees, which is good because I'm hating the cold. According to Mom, it was 8 degrees this morning. When I checked the temp around 10:30ish, it was 16 degrees. When the temperature is lower than my age, there's a problem. And when I'm 90, I'll probably be saying that there's a problem when the temp is higher than my age.
Mrs. Quigley, my cat, is adorable. She has several different moods, including playful, attack-cat, sleeping, tired-but-fighting-sleep, and nursing. Yup, she likes to nurse on or hands. And clothing. It feels pretty weird. Right now, she's next to my laptop purring. By the way, she chewed through one of the strands of Christmas lights the other day, so now we're trying to keep her out from underneath the tree while the light are on, so that she doesn't get electrocuted or anything. She'll be in for a surprise on Christmas day.
I'm thinking about getting some rain boots.

There's an epidemic of Senioritis among the early graduates. Can we get out for sickness?

I am so, so, so ready to get out of school. 5 more days of suffering. How can I make it through? I have too much homework and studying and church stuff to doo. It's like the whole world is bombarding me with everything in a span of 120 hours (last Saturday through tomorrow. My stress levels should go down after that).
About knitting, I finished the first Cinderella, but I'm probably not going to make the second because I don't like the way it fits and the provisional cast on made no sense whatsoever.

And look what else managed to make its way onto my needles?

That would be a sleeve of the Mrs. Darcy sweater that I probably don't have enough yarn for.
Well, I've probably wasted enough time already. I should go back to writing my Hamlet essay.
